ASMI China regularly conducts training programs for China’s new generation of chefs and HRI players to increase early awareness of many usages and quality of Alaska seafood. From May 5 to 9, 2014, ASMI China and the Shanghai Institute of Tourism, the only one state institute of tourism in China which offers both culinary and management skills, organized a training program targeting over 300 of the institute’s students from the specialties of Cooking Skills and Nutrition, Western Cuisine Technology and Catering Management etc. During the training program, nutritional facts and special merits of Alaska seafood were introduced to the students. During the one-week program, trainees were taught the handling and cooking techniques for Alaska seafood, like yellowfin sole, chum salmon and Pacific cod, under the guidance from trained instructors. At the end of the week, a competition was held among the trainees to conclude the program.
