The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute participated in the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo. This year, the show took place in Dalian from Nov. 5 to 8. ASMI had a large booth at the entrance of the convention hall. The well-designed booth attracted seafood traders from both home and abroad all asking for information about Alaska seafood. Staff from the ASMI China/HK Representative office answered their questions patiently and professionally. Mr. Rod Paulk from ASMI headquarters also came to Dalian with his Chinese colleagues. Through conversations with visitors, he received a very clear understanding of the local seafood market and many trade leads during the three-day show. All information gathered will be good reference for ASMI’s future promotional activities. A DVD was played on site which introduced high quality Alaska seafood throughout the entire show. Free tasting of Alaska salmon and king crab gave visitors a direct experience of wild, natural and pure Alaska products. Most traders spoke highly about Alaska seafood after trying it at the ASMI booth, especially those who have never carried it before. Everyday, new traders came to the ASMI booth and showed genuine interest in the products. After the show, over one hundred business cards were collected. The China Fisheries and Seafood show was an excellent platform for ASMI to promote Alaska seafood and communicate with potential traders.
