The 5th Annual Awards Ceremony for the “Alaska Seafood Chef Contest” was held at Shanghai Paramount on April 19, 2005, marking the continued success of the contest.
The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute joined hands with the Shanghai Cuisine Association to hold the activity. 80 chefs from local high-level hotels and restaurants such as the Shanghai International Conference Center Hotel and Shanghai Merrylin Restaurant competed against each other using Alaskan salmon and black cod as main ingredients. After several rounds of fierce competition, Zhou Bing from Shanghai’s Radisson Hotel won the super-gold medal while nine other contestants won gold, silver and creative awards.
More than 160 Chinese recipes using Alaska sockeye salmon and black cod were developed as a result of the contest. This event has played an essential role in combining Alaskan seafood with traditional Chinese cuisine.
